Cynthia Coulter George Greenwich, Connecticut
Ms. George graduated from Cornell University in 1975. She received her law degree from Loyola University in 1978, where she was a member of the Loyola Law Review. Following graduation, she joined the law firm of Cummings & Lockwood. Ms. George became a Partner of Cummings & Lockwood in 1987, having practiced during most of her career in matrimonial law. Ms. George is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a former member of its Board of Governors and its former counsel, and President of its Connecticut Chapter. She is the former Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association's Family Law Section. Ms. George has written numerous articles on family law and is author of Connecticut Family Law Citations. As Co-Chair of the Gender Bias Committee of the Academy, she wrote and directed an instructional video on gender bias in the law. She lectures frequently both nationally and within Connecticut. She is named in "Best Lawyers in America"* as one of the nation's best matrimonial lawyersand she was named one of the top 100 Attorneys in the nation in the December 2005 issue of Worth Magazine*. For ten years, Ms. George has organized a mediation program in the Stamford Superior Court at the request of the presiding family law judge.
